History

The ISoP Italian Chapter was established in 2006 at the ISoP Executive Committee meeting in Sevilla and during the Presidency of Prof. Giampaolo Velo (2003-2006), after having agreed that ISoP members in one country or geographical area may form a Chapter to facilitate the organization of meetings, training courses, or other activities related to the missions of ISoP.  Dr. Ugo Moretti has been the interim coordinator of the Chapter since 2007. The Italian ISoP Chapter has supported several initiative with the aim of improving Pharmacovigilance knowledge in Italian Healthcare professionals. In April 2007 the Italian Chapter organized its first event in Verona: a Workshop on “Signal detection and dissemination in pharmacovigilance”. In December 2009, the ISoP Italian Chapter supported the National Congress of Pharmacovigilance, organized by the Tuscan Pharmacovigilance Centre in Florence.
In march 2011, Dr. Marco Tuccori (University Hospital of Pisa) has been elected as coordinator of the Chapter, and concomitantly Dr. Stefano Bonato (Bayer Italia) and Prof. Corrado Blandizzi (University of Pisa) have been elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
